RISE AND ‘SHRINE’!
-- Last weekend to take advantage of the lowest pricing for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Run to the Shrine --
May 13, 2011, Colorado Springs, CO – Rise and ‘Shrine’ for the ONLY day of the year foot traffic is allowed on the breathtaking road to the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun. This is the last weekend to take advantage of pre-registration pricing for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s third annual Run to the Shrine fundraiser on Saturday, May 21, 2011.
This year’s new 5K/10K run-walk courses are certified by the USATF. The challenging 10K, with a nearly 1,400-foot elevation gain, is perfect for competitive runners gearing up for summer races, and the 5K is a shorter alternative for weekend warriors and families. Both courses wind through the zoo with giraffes, elephants, and grizzlies lining the course. Jogging strollers are welcome!
Registration is open online and at these Colorado Running Company walk-in sites until 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18.
833 N. Tejon Street, Colorado Springs
9275 N. Union Boulevard, Suite 120, Colorado Springs
Registration includes bragging rights, zoo admission for the day, a commemorative t-shirt, and a post-race party at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's Lodge at Moose Lake. All proceeds help feed and care for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's 800+ animals. Since the zoo doesn’t receive any tax support, community events like this help keep the zoo “running.”
