Maintenance Technician / Specialist

At CMZoo, we believe in creating exceptional experiences for our guests, our animals, and our team. Our Facilities Maintenance team plays a critical role in keeping our zoo safe, functional, and beautiful.

What You’ll Do:
– Maintain and repair zoo facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
– Perform a variety of hands-on work, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs.
– Troubleshoot and solve maintenance issues to keep the zoo operating efficiently.
– Work independently and as part of a team, taking the lead on projects as needed.
– Ensure safety for guests, staff, and animals by following best practices and maintenance protocols.
– Utilize our electronic work order system to track tasks and keep things running on schedule.

Who You Are:
– A skilled tradesperson with 3+ years of experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field (more experience preferred for higher-tier positions).
– A problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
– A team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
– Someone who enjoys working outdoors, in all weather conditions, and tackling new challenges every day.
– A safety-conscious professional with a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.

Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications:
Maintenance Assistant: $19.23/hr
Maintenance Technician: $20.83/hr
Senior Maintenance Technician: $22.36/hr
Maintenance Specialist: $22.36-$26.52/hr
Senior Maintenance Specialist: $26.52+/hr (based on specialty and market rates)

Post-Graduate Veterinary Technician Program

Congratulations on your decision to pursue a career as a Zoo Veterinary Technician! Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is an excellent place to begin your journey. During the 6 month program, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in zoo wildlife care, working closely with experienced veterinary technicians, zoo veterinarians and zoo keeper staff. After the program, you will be better prepared to be competitive for other zoo veterinary technician positions. Please keep in mind that you may need to move around to find the right job.
