- Please see our Alerts & Special Notices page for additional details.
FREE Parking
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers FREE parking for all Zoo guests (subject to availability).
- Due to limited parking availability, oversized vehicles, including buses, RVs, and trailers (any vehicle that requires more than one parking space) are required to park off site. Transportation to and from the off-site location is the responsibility of the visiting guest (consider using Lyft/Uber or a taxi service). For details, visit oversized vehicle off-site parking information.
- Guests with disabilities – reserved parking spaces are available adjacent to the Zoo’s front admission gates.

Elevation
The Zoo’s elevation rises from 6,714 feet at the front admission gate to nearly 7,000 feet above sea level at the Zoo’s highest points of Asian Highlands and Rocky Mountain Wild.
With elevations of this magnitude, it’s important for guests to:
- DRINK WATER – Keep hydrated by taking plenty of breaks to rehydrate with water.
- Take your time and don’t overdo it, especially if you are visiting from locations much lower in altitude than Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
- Consider taking the Zoo Shuttle to get around Zoo grounds.
Guest Service Shuttle
Watch for stops marked with signs around the Zoo for the golf cart shuttle. This shuttle can drive guests between shuttle stops and help guests skip the longer hills at the Zoo, depending on the weather.
The shuttle is wheelchair and stroller friendly.
Please note: some shuttle stops may be temporarily unavailable due to construction.
Cost: $3 per person per day (includes an all-day hand stamp)
– Purchase shuttle rides at Zoo admissions or with the shuttle driver.
Schedule: (Weather permitting; not available when snow or inclement weather is present.)
– Summer months: Daily, weather permitting
– Winter months: Weekends only, weather permitting
Shuttle Stop Locations:
– Watch for Shuttle stop signs located around the Zoo.
– Look for a circled red “S” on the Zoo Guest Map for shuttle stop locations.
First Aid
Please contact any Zoo team member if you need medical attention. You can also visit our Administration building in Australia Walkabout, which is open daily during Zoo hours. Please refer to the Zoo Map for location details, and look for the red plus sign icon. At nearly 7,000-foot elevation, it’s important that you drink water during your Zoo visit. Also, take your time and don’t overdo it, especially if you are visiting from locations much lower in altitude than Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
ATM – Automatic Teller Machine
An Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) is located past the stroller hut, on the boardwalk just inside African Rift Valley, across from the giraffe feeding lettuce station. Please refer to the Zoo Map, and look for the green dollar sign icon.

Professional Caregiver/Aide Admission for Guests with Disabilities
If a paying guest has a disability that requires a paid caregiver’s assistance to experience the Zoo, one caregiver/aide will be granted complimentary admission to perform those duties. Please purchase advance timed ticket(s) for each person in the party, except for the caregiver/aide.
