Atka’s Antler “Weigh-In”

CMZoo Alaska moose Atka will be strutting a new “minimalist” look for the next few months. As most male moose do each winter or spring, our 3-year-old Alaska moose, Atka, has shed his antlers!

We want you to guess how much they weigh for a chance to meet Atka up-close. Use the form below to enter your guess for the combined weight of both of his antlers. One person who guesses the closest combined weight of his antlers will win a 30-minute encounter with Atka for up to four people. (See Contest Rules below).

  • Atka shed his antlers on Sat., Feb. 24 and Sun., Feb. 25, 2024.
  • Guesses must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Sun., March 10, 2024. One guess per unique email address.
  • The winner will be contacted by Wed., March 13 via the email address provided in the form used to submit guesses.
  • The official weight will be announced on CMZoo’s social media channels on Mon., March 11, 2024.
  • Over the course of the year, Atka will grow another set of antlers and shed them again in the winter.

Contest Rules

– Guesses must be submitted in pounds and ounces at this webpage (cmzoo.org/antlers). Social media comments are welcome, but will not be considered official submissions.
– The guess that comes closest to the actual weight will be the winner. In the case of a tie among two or more guesses, a winner will be chosen at random among those with the closest guesses.
– Prize includes 30 minutes of up-close time with Atka and his animal care team and daytime admission to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for the day of the encounter for up to four people.
– Encounter attendees must be 8 or older to attend. At least one adult, age 18 or older, must be present at the encounter.
– Prize may not be transferred or exchanged.
– Animal encounter must be scheduled and redeemed by Wed., May 15, 2024.
– Winner has 48 hours to accept their prize via email. If winner does not respond within 48 hours, we will select another winner.
– Transportation and lodging are not provided. Winners must arrange their own transportation to and from the Zoo for their scheduled encounter with Atka.
– Animals have the choice to participate in encounters or not. If Atka chooses not to participate at the time of the encounter, it will be rescheduled.
– One guess per unique email address may be submitted.
